WHAT WE DO
South London tutors is a social enterprise that aims to make a difference by bringing together affordable, quality tuition, and mentoring to lower the attainment gap in education, provide the soft skills that employers look for and develop professional networks for our students. We equip our young people with the knowledge necessary to make informed decisions on career choices by hosting professionals from various sectors as guest tutors.
We provide quality home tutors in all subjects and put on small group tuition classes in English, Math and Science for, KS2, KS3 and KS4 students; each session has no more than 5 students and costs £15 per hour (we offer discounts to student whose families cannot afford the full price). Currently our classes take place in our centre in the Peckham Enterprise Centre.
The main objective of the group classes, is to improve the young people's confidence in the key concepts of the particular subjects to allow them to become active members of their classes in school. By covering fundamental topics which are essential to their innate understanding of the subject we are able to work with young people from different schools that may have varying exams boards. The overarching aim of our classes are to improve aspirations and to challenge any negative experiences they may have had in their schooling.
To tackle the problem of soft skills and business network we host guest tutors that are professionals from different fields; they teach a part of the syllabus which is relevant to their day to day job to show how subject content is still useful in specific careers. And also talk about their career and provide advice on how to gain professional employment.
Our tutors are passionate about helping young people reaching their goals through creative and engaging tuition and all of them are educated to the minimum of degree level, DBS certified and have carried out safeguarding training.
